Global recognition for St Peter’s College’s wellbeing programs
The St Peter’s College wellbeing strategy and positive education programs will be featured as exemplars of world best practice in a major publication ‘The State of Positive Education Report’ commissioned for the 2017 World Government Summit. The report specifically cites St Peter’s College publications and the success of our wellbeing program.
The World Government Summit will be held in Dubai in February 2017, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Several international organisations will participate in the summit including the International Monetary Fund, the UN, UNESCO, the OECD and the World Economic Forum.
The report was commissioned by the World Government Summit in coordination with the International Positive Education Network. Dr Mathew White, Director of Wellbeing and Positive Education at St Peter’s College co-authored the report with leaders from the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Melbourne and the London School of Economics.
Positive education is a blend of the science of positive psychology and best practice in learning and teaching. At St Peter’s College, we are proud to be a world leader in wellbeing and positive education. Our wellbeing framework is based on the work of internationally renowned psychologist Professor Martin Seligman and we teach seven scientifically-informed positive education programs that have demonstrated impacts on student wellbeing.
The Headmaster Simon Murray and Dr Mathew White will represent St Peter’s College at the summit.
Simon Murray said “We are delighted and honoured to represent St Peter’s College at this important international summit. It has always been our priority to provide the best education for our students and this includes specific teaching around resilience, positivity and perseverance. We also deeply committed to sharing our knowledge and expertise and hope to bring our experiences to a wider audience.”
